Regulation (EU) No. 305/2011

Regualtion No. 305/2011 i.e. Construction Product Regulation (CPR) has replaced Construction Products Directive (89/106/EEC) as from 24 April 2011. The CPR lays down harmonized conditions for marketing the construction products in European Union. It provides a common technical language for assessing the performance of construction products.

The CPR ensures that reliable information is available to public authorities, consumers and professionals, so that they can compare the performance of the products with different manufacturers from different countries.

Benefits to Stakeholders:

  • There is unrestricted circulation of construction products in EU market. The products have to be tested only once as per harmonized European Standard or European Assessment Document.
  • The national authorities can specify performance requirements using harmonized European Standard or European Assessment Document.
  • The users of construction products can easily define their performance demands.
  • The market surveillance can rely on a common information structure.

Benefits of Technical Tools of CPR:

  • Declaration of performance delivers information on the performance of the product.
  • Clearer roles for Technical Assessment Bodies and Notified Bodies.
  • Assessment and Verification of Constancy of Performance defines how products are assessed and how the constancy of the products are controlled.
